Red Purse OOTD ๐Ÿ’

Hey everyone!

This week, my aunt in California sent me a little care package. I used to visit her when I was a teenager, flying all by myself across the country at thirteen and fourteen. We hung out and went shopping, and I got to experience the fog of northern California and how cold their nights got, even in the summer. My aunt and I look a lot alike, too, and have the same interest in fashion and design. You can imagine how excited I was when she shared a piece of her curated collection with me!

When I headed out to debut my new lipstick red bag, I decided to let it pop against a simple black dress.

I also wore black sandals, a Lucky Brand Jeans purple pendant necklace, a stack of bracelets, and a black faux suede dress I got at a thrift store a million years ago. I wore my hair straight and was having a good bangs day!

She told me to be careful with this designer bag, to keep it in its dust bag when not in use, and to never let it touch the ground. I do have a few nice MK and MJ bags- gifts from when I graduated and consignment shop scores- but I haven’t been as careful with them as I am with this baby!ย Some purses are utilitarian, and some are fashion statements. I don’t have to tell you what this one is!

I have a lot of thoughts on marketing, consumerism, the leather industry, stereotypes, and how my enjoyment and pursuit of luxury goods perpetuates the patriarchy, BUT those feelings are for another time (my Sociology degree is trying to rear its head!). This one is just about how wonderful it was to receive a fabulous, once in a lifetime present like this! Sometimes beautiful things can be appreciated and enjoyed in a purely uncomplicated manner (even if my inner social justice warrior wants to complicate everything and anything- being woke is hard! Lol).ย โค๏ธ

This bag is available for sale here if you like it! It’s not for sale in stores anymore. A red epi leather bag like this is rare these days.ย Thank you to my aunt for sharing such a unique piece with me.

What do you think? Would you rock a bright red bag? I love colorful purses. But especially this one!
