Celebrating My 27th Birthday!

Hey everyone!

I recently celebrated my birthday, which is historically the most fun day of the year. I was born on July 25, which is a really good birthday. Growing up, everyone from school traveled during the summer, so birthday parties were either held early or were low-key affairs. Now that I’m an adult, it’s fun to have a birthday in the middle of the summer. It’s also a pleasing date. I mean, go ahead and pick 7/25 to get married. It just looks good, lol.

I celebrated early, since I was traveling on my actual bday, which was last Tuesday. On Saturday night, I got a birthday dinner with my boyfriend Scott and my bff Rose.

We went to the Domain, which I’ve blogged about a ton, like whenever I get crazy good tacos and my favorite cupcakes. We went to a restaurant called Mia Tapas, which has one of the best happy hours in Austin. I love a tapas place, and this one is loud, fun, and has a great bar.

We talked nonstop and ate pizza, meatballs, and beets. None of us even thought to take photos of the food or drinks, because we were just so engaged. That’s what always happens when the three of us get together! Rose and I have been friends for almost ten years now, since I first moved to Austin. The three of us can talk politics alone for hours and hours.

We skipped dessert at Mia so that we could get cupcakes at Sprinkles instead!

Plus Rose had never had a cupcake from Sprinkles. This was unthinkable to me. They’ve been open since February and I’ve been over 20 times since then!

I got vanilla, which was the first meh cupcake I’ve ever gotten from Sprinkles. And vanilla is usually my favorite, so I was disappointed. At least Rose’s triple cinnamon was good!

I’d spent some time on my makeup, and curled my hair with my 1 1/2 inch curling wand and then brushed the curls out. I pinned some of my hair back with a little bronze flower clip.

I’d also recently dyed my hair with my favorite color to get ready for my birthday and trip. I used a Loreal Box, which was a big leap from my usual Sally’s custom mixing hair dye routine. I switched back to the box because it was a color I used to be obsessed with, called Rose Gold Blonde. It always worked well against my skin tone, and I was so happy with the results!

Rose got me some really cute bath products for my birthday. I have a bathtub in my apartment, so I can use these things asap! They’re lavender scented, which is perfect now that I’m all grown up and 27! 😊

My brother and his lovely girlfriend Claire also mailed me a present from their home in Washington DC! My bro sent me an Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit. It’s just the kind of present that I’d totally want, but would never splurge on. You know what I mean? What a perfect gift! It’s highlighter for highlighting the tops of cheekbones, if you’re not sure what a glow kit is.

BTW- the one in the lower right corner looks weird because it came smashed and I had to press it back into shape. That’s the risk of mailing something and I don’t mind! I was just so happy that he sent me something- it made me smile so much.

It was a very lovely, low-key birthday celebration, and next I’ll be posting about my actual birthday, which was FABULOUS and CRAZY because I flew to Montreal!

More soon,

Taylor
